I chose to take these photos because this house was owned by the brother of a circus owner, from the Barnum & Bailey Circus. This home is located in Holly, Michigan. Holly is in Oakland County. My mom grew up in Holly, and my grandma, aunts, uncle, and cousins still live there. I chose these compositions because they made the house stand out, seeming large and impressive. The carriage entrance in the middle photograph tells us that the people used horses for transportation. I had to lie on the ground to get the entire house in the photographs. I am trying to convey a feeling of grandeur.

I also took these photos in Holly, Michigan. This building used to be an old bank, built in the 1860s. This building still holds vault, but it is now a reception hall called "The Vault." I chose to photograph features of the building that were most interesting to me. The shadows and lighting presented some challenges. I am trying to convey a feeling of pride because I'm happy that my grandmother lives in such a beautiful old town that is perfect for her.

There are no electrical lines in these photos. The line in the photos is for hanging signs and decorations for the town events.
I took these photos in Holly, Michigan, as well. These photos are of an old town hall which also served as a fire station, a jail, and a polling place. This building has been around since 1892. It was at the center of Oakland County. I chose to zoom in for two of these photos. I chose to go closer in on the middle one so you could see more of the details of the roof. I chose to take photos of this building because I think it is very cool, and it has a neat history to be told. The feeling I am trying to convey here is astonishment because it is still standing and looks almost new. There were only a few issues while trying to take these photos. It was cold and people were walking by. I also had more difficulties with shadows.

title your photos (2 per location- makes sure 1 is a blue print) you post to your weebly. Your statement should discuss what & where you chose to take your photos, why you choose the composition and what feeling are you trying to convey. Please include any trial, errors and triumphs you had with the photos. This is an old home in Holly, Michigan. It is currently being restored. It is at the corner of two main neighborhood streets. I chose to photograph this house because the sun was at a good angle on it. It was just right, so I decided to seize the moment. The composition I chose for these photos is to emphasize the corner of the house, because it is at one of the main corners in town. Although I like the sunlight on the house, some areas were hard to photograph because of the shadows from the trees.
Holly Union Depot and Rail

I took these photos in Holly, Michigan. The sign above this rail station reads, "Holly," in raised letters. This place has been around since 1885. People have tried to restore it but haven't done so well. When they acid washed the exterior walls, they didn't rinse the walls properly. The walls are being eaten away by the acid. I learned a lot of the history from the friendly neighbor next to the depot. The reason the depot has lasted here is because this building is three brick walls thick. The building has different sized limestone slabs that were all put together, so it is on uneven ground. I am trying to convey a feeling of adventure. I adventured all around the building. When my mom was young, she had an adventure from this depot. Her parents pulled the arm down to signal the train to stop and pick them up for a ride. I chose to take photo
